YOSHIE NISHIKAWA

Biography

Yoshie Nishikawa, was born in Sapporo (Japan) in 1959. After graduating at art university, Ootani of Sapporo, in 1982, she transfers to San Francisco (USA) in order to specialise in “The Fine Art of Photography” with the San Francisco Academy of Art College.

In 1983, alternating between various masters within the academy, she begins a freelance photographic career working between Tokyo, New York, London and Milan.

In 1996, she decides to transfer to Milan, all the while continuing a professional collaboration with different publishing groups and photographic agencies in Tokyo

Commercial campaigns, catalog include : Ermenegildo Zegna, Loro Piana, Charles jourdan, Giorgia Turri, RockSpring, Pomellato, Remida, San Lorenzo, Google,Ferrari, Fontana Arte, Harrods.

Published  editorial  work,  include  :  Condé  Nast,  Rizzoli,  Mondadori,Hearst,  Hachette, Kodan-sha, Shuei-sha, Shogakkan.

Published books include : “Fascination” (Tokyo 1994), “Cathrine Walker” (New York 1997), “Gli Oggetti  di  Fontana  Arte”  (Milan  1999),  “Salvadanai  di  San  Lorenzo” (Milan 2001), “Soso” (Padova 2002), “12 monili d’argento” (Milan 2003), Remida “Colore” (Monza 2006) Alternating her professional work with her own personal research, Yoshie Nishikawa, has exhibited her work in numerous galleries between Italy and Japan.

In 2009 it has realized all the photographic images of the reperti of the Museum Egizio di Torino, on behalf of the main Japanese daily paper The Asahi Shimbun, of the Toei Company Ltd and the Fuji Television, used then for   the catalogue and in order to promote, within Italy-Japan 2009, the great extension “ANCIENT EGYPT IN TURIN” to Tokyo, where it has had beyond 200.000 visitors, and in other four important Japanese cities : Sendai, Fukuoka, Kobe and Shizuoka.

Awards

In 2009 she has always gained, on 673 selected professionals and a jury of composed excellence gives beyond 50 personages leader in the panorama of the communication, the

first absolute prize and the first prize in within Fashion to “Prize of the creative quality in professional photography”, organized from the “National Association Photographers Professionals Tau Visual” with the following critical appraisal : Yoshie Nishikawa is a complete author – eclectic – whose poetics photographic production above all demonstrate to a technical competence but a not common aesthetic sensibility.

In 2010, always for the “Prize of the creative quality in professional photography”, it has won

the first prize in the category “Glamour”.

Presently, professional and artistic activities are developed between Milan, London, Paris and Tokyo.
